If It Makes You Uncomfortable…

There are some topics I tend to avoid, in conversation, in my choice of reading materials, viewing and in writing in my journal. If someone was to directly ask me why I avoided that or those topics I’m not sure what kind of an answer I’d give. That’s where writing about it in your journal is a good idea. I was asked a similar question today and though I wasn’t able to give a real answer it did prompt me to spend some time writing about why I felt this way in my journal later.
I identified a certain level of discomfort on the topic. Not happy to leave it at that, I mean feeling uncomfortable as a reason is a bit of a cop out, I investigated the topic and discovered passionate reasons for disliking that particular idea. I even surprised myself by writing a yet unsent letter to the editor of my local newspaper.
What about you? What topics make you feel uncomfortable? Write a short list or just take note over the next several days. Spend some time writing about your reasons for discomfort over these issues. What makes you avoid confronting these topics? Why do you feel better not considering them?
This can be a disturbing journal writing prompt if you have deep & troubling issues. Only attempt this journal writing prompt if you feel capable of doing so, or let someone you trust know you are writing about it in your journal. Take care of yourself.
