I’m a Healthy Mom
Well, I try to be a healthy mom. Today Hsien Hsien, over at A Hearty Life, gave me a mention about my Pilates/Treadmill routine.
I’m no world class athlete, but I do my best. Plus, how often do you have time to stick earbuds in your ears and shut out the world for a half-hour?
Being healthy means you have the energy to play in the floor and the flexibility to get up afterwards. It also means you get to be around to see your grandkids get married. Most people say, “You owe it to yourself”, I say, “You owe it to your kids/dh.” They adore you, they want to see you around forever.
You can’t do forever, but with exercise you can lengthen your life. C’mon, don’t you want to see those great-grandkids one day? I know that you do! How do you stay healthy OR what do you want to change about the way you eat/live?


































Whew! I was inspired to do some stretching while reading your post.
I can get down and play and get back up, but I need to be better about exercise. I eat fairly healthy, but I would rather sleep than stretch!
After losing the ability to walk to a mysterious illness when my first baby was only 3 yrs old I take much less for granted now. I make myself take extra trips up the stairs when I put close away, try to be faithful to my DDR mat and watch the junk food. There’s so much I want to get better at but this is my start. ;o)

With both of my parents in their early 50’s on disability because of the many health issues they have, primarily caused by obesity. This is so important to me. I not only want to be able to do things with my kids but with my grandkids.

I need to write more on this. It’s something we ALL struggle with…
My mom is overweight and her self-esteem is almost non-existent. I know that deep down she feels like she eats too much (that’s the self-defeating talk I told myself when I had trouble losing baby weight), but I know that for most of us exercise is the main problem.
We shouldn’t have to avoid all bread to stay under/at our peak weight. The answer is more movement, not less food (in most cases). And, that’s much easier to fix (and it’s a positive helper rather than a negative one).
I do all the yoga and walking I can! I find it not only helps me stay physically healthy, but mentally and emotionally too. Nothing else helps me out of a funk or eases my stress more than exercise.
I agree that exerciseand just moving is a must! I’ve found in my life, that can only lose wieght when I include exercise. I remember seeing my 89 year old Aunt down on the floor playing with my kids and not needing any help getting up when I was already having some problems getting up.Both my parents suffered from arthritis and mine came early, so I have to keep moving or end in a wheelchair.

I totally agree. But I try to work at living a healthy lifestyle. I fail often, but I try.

I guess the difference between you and me is that you can still get up without groaning and I can’t. That’s really sad
since we are the same age and you have 4 kids and I have 1.
Yeah, I think the main point is if we try and fail, at least we have come a little closer to health. Not trying is just lazy
