Dear Mrs. Livoni:

At a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Los Angeles Group of Alcoholics Anonymous, held Dec. 4th, 1941, it was decided that your attendance at group meetings was no longer desired until certain explanations and plans for the future were made to the satisfaction of this committee. This action has been taken for reasons which should be most apparent to yourself. It was decided that, should you so desire, you may appear before members of this committee and state your attitude. This opportunity will be afforded you between now and December 15th, 1941. You may communicate with us at the above address by that date.

In case you do not wish to appear, we shall consider the matter closed and that your membership is terminated.

Alcoholics Anonymous, Los Angeles Group
Mortimer, Frank, Edmund, Fay D., Pete, Al

There’s soooo much wrong with this I don’t know where to start… thank God this type of insanity didn’t last long in AA!

Are you on LiveJournal? This hits home with a current issue we’re having in the community ’sobriety” on LJ. I’d love if you could posts this there, or if you were willing to have me repost it…

  2. Mark says:

    Hi Pam,

I just did some digging into your LJ and found the “controversy.” I also found an old nemesis of many of us only under a fourth (or fifth or sixth, who knows, name) = clonnie. clonnie is so obviously Micky/David/Patrick from Australia. He is one extremely sick individual and will haunt you to the ends of the earth.

This person has an obsession to gain permission to drink that is beyond any other I have seen personally and the recovery community online has seen, I’m sure.

There is only one way to end your “controversy.” End your engagement with clonnie, make every attempt to delete his comments or block him, even go so far as to report him as abusive because that’s what he is, besides being a lunatic…

  3. PamC says:

Oh, I don’t want this info for clonnie… I want it for the rest of the group. There were folks who were ready to throw out the Traditions for an easy solution. But that opiton wouldn’t be right… per your example here.

  4. PamC says:

About the other stuff… I’m working a strategy. If you can email me privately, or leave your email in my journal (on another entry; anonymous posts automatically show up screened) I’ll fill you in.

  5. Mark says:

    Email on the way… :)
