In Giving Your Heart

Talking about the matters of the heart is a sore task right now. To be quite honest, if given the choice of writing or not writing about it, I’d choose the latter. Writing about it just drains me of all the other energy that I may need for doing other more practical things.
However, I believe my story can help others so here I am — writing.
One of the things that I’ve realised the past few days is on the subject of giving one’s heart to someone. Risky business, that it is. But all of us take this risk at some point in our lives, right? I reckon it’ll be best if at least I share my thoughts in the hope that it will help others in the future.
Though I know that in love and everything that involves the heart, there’s no formula. Best for you to take good care of yourself; prepare yourself before entering into a serious relationship, before you give your heart to any one.
Yea, the other person should have taken care of your heart. Should’ve been responsible enough to know not to make light of the opportunity. Should’ve shown that they were grateful for the opportunity.
BUT.
You alone should carry the burden of taking care of who you give your heart to.
As soon as you learn that you are indeed strong enough to give your heart to that other person, go ahead and take the leap. But, not in any circumstance, should you entrust such a precious thing to someone less deserving. Know your worth. You deserve all the good things that Love has to offer. I do hope you believe that.
