My brothers and I always made our costumes growing up. We were really creative kids, and I think a lot of that is from my parents allowing us to come up with our own costumes and how to make them. By doing everything for your kids you are robbing them of developing an imagination and ingenuity.

i am 12 and you should create this rules 1 inch above the knee only! i agrea and so will your kids and make a little contract and make them sighn and you need to save it and laminate it cause if they find that they might trie to get rid of it

I think it’s sad that so few kids make their own costumes (or have parents make them) anymore.

It is always so cold in Colorado anyway that these skimpy costumes get covered up by big coats and hats. Glad I only have a boy. I can deal with the blood and gore much better than the bare skin!

I can’t believe some of the stuff that they try to sell for little girls. Why can’t little girls look like little girls and not like mini-adults.

Remember back in the olden days you used to pull out the big box of Halloween stuff and make up a costume? Nowadays, we buy everything ready to wear. Does that take some of the excitement out of it?

In any case, since my kids have started helping bring in the mail, I have to be careful to sort it quickly and get the catalogs with trashy costumes out of their sight quickly. So much parental vigilance needed to keep the youth in our children!

I’ve seen a few maid and kitty costumes that should DEFINITELY be for older kids but they weren’t.
