Insightful Post Has Gone Up In Smoke

I had planned to write something thought provoking, and interesting tonight. But I accidentally set some vegetables that I was cooking for dinner on fire, and well…all interesting ideas that I may have had – have been replaced by billowing smoke.
I blame it on the very popular Chronic Fatigue Syndrome symptom – Brain Fog. Actually, I just wasn’t paying attention. I was multitasking. Something that I should never ever do, while cooking.
I am sure whatever great post I was going to write about, will turn up sometime later this week. In the meantime, I invite you to leave a comment making fun of my horrible culinary skills – and lack of presence.
I hope you all had very nice dinners.

I’m glad nothing was permanently damaged. Had my own episode of too-much-on-a-foggy-brain yesterday… the medical test I have scheduled today (rescheduled after they cancelled the end of Feb) had to have a prep started 24 hrs beforehand. I remembered last night at 9pm. #@$#%@#@$ I’m now waiting for the office to open to cancel and reschedule AGAIN. At this rate, they’ll figure out the results about 2 years after it was applicable.
And the freaky part of this all is, that I swore all day that I was in amazing shape, considering the past week – energetic, firing on all cylinders… come bedtime I realized I’d completely zoned out sometime around 8:30am. How come I can’t tell when I’m in it?
i did the same thing to my scrambled eggs a few weeks ago. i thought i turned off the burner but it was almost off. suffice it to say my son hasn’t stopped talking about how his breakfast smelt funky..LOL.
Yikes, the brain fog is bad. When I was really sick I just didn’t talk much for a long time, I couldn’t get the words in my head to come out of my mouth and I felt so stupid:(
I do a lot less multi-tasking because of it still, glad you caught the fire before it spread.
I had many dinners gone up in smoke.Yes, the fog is to be blamed.
I have been relatively well, and yet just two mornings ago, I was walking between the kitchen, bathroom, living room and bed room, staring at tables, looking everywhere. I knew I need to take something before I leave home, but what? where? Took me a good 5 minute or more to figure out. Yeah, I know, it could be worse.
I used to burn things by leaving the stove on high “for just a moment” while I ran off to another room to do something, and then forgot about it. Brain-fog you could say, or just general distraction.
I now have a rule: the stove goes to low, even if I leave the kitchen for a second!
Jenna,
oh no! I hate it when that happens. Did you get the test rescheduled? Glad to know that you are feeling good these days – brainfog withstanding. Don’t let it get you down. It happens to the best of us.
Dexie,
ick burnt eggs. Kids never forget. We still remind my mother of the time she accidentally subbed salt for the sugar when she baked pumpkin pie for thanksgiving one year. I don’t think she has ever baked another pie after that fiasco – and I was about 12 when that happened.
Hope your son’s memory fades quickly.
bookbabie,
Yea I have been there. There was a time where I wouldn’t have been able to tell you my own name- because I couldn’t remember it. Glad those days are mostly behind me.
Multi-tasking is bad when the brain fog hits. I definitely need to remember to do things one at a time.
In fact, when I am at work – I often get really frustrated because multitasking is part of what I am supposed to do….and it boggles my brain so much sometimes, that I often have to walk away from my desk, and hide in the bathroom for 10 minutes.
fmsra,
yes definitely could be worse – but still very frustrating. I often wish things came with a tracking device. But then everything I own would need said device, and then I think I would have just as big a problem.
Allergy Guy,
great rule!
Am going to start using that one
