Need some inspiration to jump-start your next sewing project?
Don’t head to your local fabric store – check out your recycling bin instead!
Nancy Judd has been using materials that would normally end up in the landfill or recycle bin to create her one-of-a-kind art clothing used in “Recycle Runway“. Check out the amazing “Fan Mail Dress“:

Now take a closer look:

The dress is covered with origami fans folded out of junk mail!
The garments travel around the US, being shown in fashion shows and displays as teaching tools to build environmental awareness. Nancy Judd also teaches workshops on creating your own eco-garments – I’d love to take one of those classes!

Wow! What a find, Chloe. You never cease to amaze me with what you come up with. This is wonderful.
Do you think the fabric needs to be stiffened first to make something like this?
Hi Eileen,
Isn’t that an amazing dress? The fans are actually made out of folded paper, so I would imagine the fabric underneath wouldn’t need any extra stiffening.
