It was Eoin O’Halloran who is a Limerickman who has been behind the introduction of the Voltaic Backpack in Ireland. Although he did introduce the creation to the country, it was Voltaic Systems, an American company, who did really create the gadget.

On the introduction of the backpack to Ireland, O’Halloran did mention, “There is a tremendous public and media interest in sustainable products and we expect that there will be enormous media interest here in this product as in the US where it was featured on CNN, NY1, Discovery Channel, BBC, ABC, NBC, Fortune, US News, and World Report and the list goes on.”

He also did disclose, “Our products save customers money over time, by eliminating the need for purchasing throw away AA batteries, or electric bills, in addition to costs to our environment for conventional power and disposable batteries.”

Why? You see, the solar backpack has solar panels that are light and very durable. You can place your gadgets inside the backpack and connect them to a port which them charges up your electronic items.

Neat.
