Is Seafood Really Good for You?

Consider the Pros and Cons of SeafoodCNN Health recently explored the health benefits of fish compared with potential health risks, and drew some really interesting conclusions.

You already know that fish is a great source of lean protein and those oh-so-important omega-3 fatty acids that play a role in critical fetal development and ongoing brain and hormonal function throughout life. But you probably also know that mercury and PCBs are a major concern, especially for pregnant women.

The article, originally published in Cooking Light, examined salmon, shrimp, shark, mackerel, swordfish, catfish, tilapia, and others. Check it out for an in-depth discussion of what’s safe and what’s not such a good bet.

Hi Kristen, just stumbled on your site and enjoyed your article. Dr. Peter Whitehouse and I have just written a book called “The Myth of Alzheimer’s: What You Aren’t Being told About Today’s Most Dreaded Diagnosis” in which we touch upon the safety issues surrounding fish consumption, as well as the neuro-protective effects it might confer. Our book was just published by St Martin’s Press and I do think it would appeal to your readership. Please check out our website http://www.themythofalzheimers.com and see if it’s something your site would like to blog on at some point. I’d love to share our message with as wide an audience as possible. Thank you,
    take care,
    Danny
