Is Your City Stressing You Out?

And speaking of stress…
Triggers like rising unemployment rates, increasing fuel costs, population overload, and yes, the weather, are why Yahoo! Real Estate just listed these five cities as the top five most stressful American cities:
- Chicago
- New York
- Detroit
- Los Angeles
- San Francisco
Kind of makes me glad I work from home and live in four seasons country, where town population is about five and there wouldn’t really be anywhere to go even if gas was affordable.
What about your city? Is it adding stress to your life?

My friends just moved to Chicago from a mid-size “boring” town in Indiana, along with their newborn. That scares me that it might have worse air quality! I don’t think they fairly judged San Francisco (I hear it’s great) and people should probably take public transportation anyway, if they can help it. (Thus, less stress from highest gas prices)
I live in Austin which is fairly relaxing albeit HOT most of the year but with what we have left of natural scenery, and of course, live music, makes it stress-reducing.
Worse air quality or not, I’m a bit envious of your friends. Lately I’ve found myself being drawn to Chicago. Never been, but am suddenly really wanting to go. Weird, haha.
I wholeheartedly agree about the public transportation – I really wish my area’s bus system was more…user-friendly, I guess is the word. (The hours are inconvenient to most people’s work schedules and the things don’t run on the weekends…?! Ah, small town America.)
I think you’re right about San Francisco. I have a cousin who lives out there and swears it’s the best city ever as far as weather and things to do go. I don’t think we could drag him away, haha.
