Is your food “good”?

I almost said it tonight.

We bought my son a once-in-a-blue-moon Happy Meal (Subway subs for my husband and me) and I was craving some salty french fries.  So I got a small order for myself (hubby is an ultra-healthy eater — peanut butter is pretty much the extent of his indulgence.)

When we got home, I poured a few fries onto my plate, and just as I did, I started to say to my child, “Mommy’s being bad,” infering that eating some fatty fast food made me any less of a human being.  Thank goodness I stopped myself before the words slipped past my lips.

I was horrified.

As much as I preach about not making “loaded” comments around kids regarding food and eating, I came darn close to doing so.

Since when did it become “bad” to enjoy a little food that you wouldn’t normally eat?  Why do I feel like I’m a less-than-worthy person when I indulge in some cheesecake, potato chips or McDonald’s fries?

Geesh.

I need to re-read some of my earlier posts.
