Islanders Go Solar

There are just about 200 people living in this island but as few as they may be, these people are actually using solar power as their main and primary source of energy.

These islanders live in the island of Apolima which is part of Samoa’s territory. These people used to have electricity for only 4 hours to 5 hours per day. This was because they had to spend quite a huge amount so as keep the island’s power generator running.

However, times have surely changed and now, these Apolima residents are now enjoying electricity 24 hours a day. And they do not need to spend on diesel fuel. Everything is thanks to the sun.

The country’s prime minister, Tuila’epa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi, now shares that people all around the globe should be looking for new sources of power because, he says, oil and fuel could run out one day. In fact, the PM further says, that they are now looking at using will mills to add to the sources of energy for the country.

I’m very interested in developing solar power in Samoa and other Pacific Islands. Could you direct me to a company or organization which does solar power for a living ?
