It’s a Houseboat … Really!

July 13, 2006 by Ingrid

I’ve seen boats that double as houses, but it’s a little odd to see a house that was once a boat!

Behold, a Seattle house(boat), perched upon the beautiful shores of Mercer Island.

The once-boat, called the USS Manzanita was built in 1908, and features two levels, three bedrooms, two fireplaces, a modern kitchen, a family room, a deck, and even a hot tub.

Absolutely lovely.

Preparing for the big flood? Its an interesting concept. Btw, have you seen a fully environment-friendly house design that can be commerically replicated? Thanks, email me back!

Hello. My name is Brad Charlton and I work for Home & Garden Television, a show called “Offbeat America.” We are looking for very unusual, out of the ordinary homes to feature on our show. I renctly came across this house boat and it looked interesting. I would love to learn some more about it. Does anyone know how to be in contact with the homeowners? Thanks.
