It’s about time…

Time was a huge factor for me when I was anorexic. It governed when I was “allowed” to eat, and even if my stomach was rumbling like crazy, if the clock wasn’t at the “perfect” number, I couldn’t ingest a single calorie.
Woe to me if I MISSED an opportunity to eat; then, I “had” to wait until the next time I could munch on a tidbit.
Ironically, if the people around me had been attuned to eating disorders, they would have noticed this pattern of behavior very quickly. Unfortunately, in the mid-1980s, it was rare for parents to really have a grasp on what EDs were.
I’m wondering if any of you had similar experiences with the whole time issue?

Yeah, I feel guilty if I eat lunch before noon or dinner before 5pm… and I don’t like to eat breakfast before 9am. I definitely understand the timing issue!

I feel less guilty now than ever before, but every now and then I just find myself thinking, “Hey, it’s too early to eat [insert meal].”
