It’s All About Hope

For many people, the word autism is synonymous with lost hope.
So an article in today’s Burlington Free Press opens. More and more lives are touched by autism describes the experiences of Bev Frost, 64, who “has been fighting the system most of her son’s life,” and of Betsy Stevens, whose granddaughter has autism.
I would rather say that, While raising an autistic child is not easy, for me the word autism, far from being “synonymous with lost hope,” is all about hope.

Without hope, where would we go? What would we do? Autism has a big impact on our family, but losing hope? Never.
That’s why the two words for the conference my husband Jim Fisher is organizing for Oct 27 are “Witness and Hope”!
