It’s Summer, and the Living is Easy For PWCs

Today is theme day for the b5media science and health gang. The chosen theme this month is summer.
I think summer has long been the season associated with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (although in my mind its winter…something to do with hibernation, i suppose). Certainly the general public thinks that CFS is a bit of a holiday from regular life….where we rest in hammocks, sip lemonade, and soak up all those beneficial sunrays. How very mistaken they are. I hate summer!!!! For whatever reason, it zaps my energy. Its not all bad. I am just grouchy because I have had a particularly bad one….and havent been able to enjoy it at all.
OK, I have conflicting feelings about summer, I will share with you the reasons why its not so so so bad.
I love very early mornings when the sun is just coming up, and the rays are reflected in the ocean (I am one of the lucky ones, who live near the water). Its an incredibly calming effect. I love that its still light out when I come home from work. And I adore how beautiful nature is at this time of year (well all times of year actually…but this post is about summer). Summer isn’t all bad, i guess.
The warmth of the sun (if its not too over powering) makes me feel strong. The bright colours of everything, let me feel a little more alive. And the sounds….ahhh the sounds. Well, they are something special are’nt they. Hats off to my neighbor, the bagpiper who serenades me on sundays and thursdays at 7pm…..there is nothing like it, and summer is the only time of year that I hear him, because we keep our windows open. Old Angus (his identity has been protected) keeps me dreaming of travelling to far away lands….usually which is done in the summer.
Find something fun about summer that you can enjoy….chances are it might even be beneficial…i know its tempting but margaritas dont count as something healthy….so you might want to stop at one or two.
Feel free to share what aspects of summer you love the most, and if you can incorporate some heathy tips for us.
Countdown to autumn is 44 sleeps (i so can’t wait…autumn is my season).

From the other side of the world, where we have had a cold winter but are now experiencing a really early spring, I’d like to say “I love summer!”. I like the warmth, the sun gives me strength and energy and if I can make a few excursions to the beach this coming summer, I will be the ahppiest girl alive. So if you’re not enjoying summer, that’s cool – I’ll swap you – send it my way and i’ll send you the cooler seasons!
Ellie, anytime you wanna switch seasons just give a hollah….if i could live in the season of autumn for all time,i would be the happiest girl ever.
