It’s Theme Day [Or - Being A Part Of...]

You’all know the deal – for most of our lives we never felt a part of anything. It always felt as if we were outsiders eh? And we went to great lengths to maintain that too, lol.
Today, I am happy to be a part of the Science and Health Channel at b5media, although an anonymous part
So… today is Theme Day! You can follow the theme of each of the Blogs in our channel by clicking on that lovely button up there^. The theme is to present the mission statement for each of our Blogs to you and ask you for constructive feedback. Don’t they know never to say “mission” to a recovering person? Anyways…
Did you know that this Blog began as a part of b5 back in December, 2005? The original writer/author was Anne Wayman. Anne was unable to continue and turned the reins over to me in April, 2006.
When it began, Jeremy offered this assessment of it’s purpose. “A Dozen Steps is a self-empowerment blog for people who deal with any variety of addictions, or who can benefit from any of the countless 12-step programs out there. It covers news, reviews products and offers daily encouragement.”
Admittedly, I’ve strayed from the product reviews and news but I’ve tried my best to offer daily encouragement (at least IMHO).
What I said in April – “It is my hope that we can come to this venue to pass on what we have learned and engage others to share what they have learned so we might fulfill the primary purpose – to help others find recovery,” is still where it’s at, for me. Of course, that may not be quite right – for you! So, I’d be thrilled to hear your opinions (oh gosh – asking a bunch of alkies for their opinions, lmao).
- Would you want me to search out and review products related to recovery from any addictions?
- Would you want me to spend more time researching news relating to either miracles of recovery or, on the negative side, the bad results of addictions?
- Is there anything else of interest related to recovery that you like to see mentioned here?
I’m game if you have different needs!
Any talk of a Mission Statement related to recovery, in my belief, has only one place to go to find what that Mission Statement is – The Preamble of Alcoholics Anonymous which has been adapted by so many other recovery programs;
“Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.
The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics achieve sobriety.”
There are no requirements for membership at this Blog at all! Of course, it would be a thought that you subscribe to our feed if you wouldn’t mind

Please let me take this moment to thank all of you who continue to share in what goes on here – I really appreciate everyone’s feedback in the comments. It is a joy to see each day! Thanks!

Thanks for your encouragement and contributions to the community of 12-steppers. (Not to be confused with two-steppers, out there on the dance floor in cowboy boots.)
