Jackie Chan, world-renowned martial artist and actor, and a UN Children’s Fund (Unicef) goodwill ambassador, was hired by the United Nations to star in its world-wide television campaign to warn against the dangers of bird flu. The one-minute public service announcement will explain the risk to children of contracting of bird flu from sick or dead chickens.
“This is not about creating alarm but helping children be more alert and careful,” Chan said in a UN statement. “When it comes to bird flu, we don’t want to take any chances with our kids.”
Filmed in an international school in Hongkong, the TV ad will start broadcasting in Hongkong today, and later in other Asian countries, in either English or the native language.
