Jailed for Pregnant Drug and Alcohol Use: Is it Right?

Alabama is cracking down on its pregnant drug and alcohol users by jailing and prosecuting them. It actually IS all legal according to the new state law intending to protect children from drugs.

In less than an 18-month-period at least eight women have been prosecuted for using drugs while pregnant.

However, two other states, Maryland and New Mexico, are rejecting these types of laws declaring that unborn babies are fetuses and that punishment for the mother is not a deterrent.

    Yeah, it’s right. If the babies were not in untero, they would be prosecuted.
