Jingle Bells -CFS Style

I often have recurring bouts of insomnia, but this is a new one for me. I have been wide awake since 12:13 am. Why, you may ask. Because I keep hearing jingle bells – sleigh bells, actually. I don’t live in the country. I don’t live anywhere close to snow covered fields with horses pulling piles of people snuggled under blankets. Christmas music is not being played in my house, right now. So where are these bell sounds coming from. They are from inside my head. They will not go away.

When I was a kid, I used to hear sleigh bells really early on Christmas morning, hours before anyone else got up. It was from wishing that Santy Claus would make a reappearance. But its 2 weeks before Christmas – and while I really want to see Santy this year, I am not sure he will be showing up this morning.

It’s going to be a very very long day.

It’s really freaky what an unconscious wish + fatigued brain can come up with, isn’t it? Here’s hoping that it changes to the King’s Choir singing Silent Night – that at least might lull you to sleep!

I really have to say when I am having a bad day all I have to do is look at this blog. I dont think I know of anyone more peculiar than you. Do not wear slippers to bed with bells on them. Or maybe you should take off your Santa hat , the bells may stop ringing….

    Jenna,

isn’t it the craziest??? The bells have stayed with me all day. I keep hearing this little ching ching ching ching background noise.

Perhaps its time to see another neurologist….or perhaps a psychiatrist.

Silent Night would be a welcome change. Perhaps I should listen to that before I flop into bed tonight.

  4. laura says:

Dan, I am so glad that I amuse you.

It makes it all worth it, just knowing that my weird neurotic behavior puts a smile on your face.

    ;)

  5. Jenna says:

Skip the neurologist, get at least two nights of solid deep sleep :D .

Get out of the children’s flannel pjs and into some sweats and a gym! I know you’re in a cold environment there and it’s almost mandatory to own warm things, but it might be interesting to run a ‘contrarian program’ for a while, get ‘uncomfortable’, in gear, and stop talking about fantasy cookies for a non-existent Santa Claus. That’s worse than the ‘god is dead’ stuff, hmm? I don’t believe in this longstanding identity of yours, Laura. You deserve better!

    Your friend,

    Commander McBrag

    C-McB,

You have a point, as always…..changing my program to the opposite of what I am doing – might be an interesting experiment.
