Entertainment Weekly has named J.K. Rowling as its 2007’s Entertainer of the Year.
The magazine estimates the total revenue generated by the Harry Potter machine at $15 billion, with nearly 400 million Potter books sold worldwide.
This year marked the end of the Harry Potter era, we think.
And Entertainment Weekly named her as the Entertainer of the Year because she did something quite remarkable: she made children want to read. I know this – and you know this.
I often quibble with the choices (the cast of Grey’s Anatomy? the cast of Lost? though I will grant you Jon Stewart…) but this year, they absolutely got it right. Cheers!
