Jon and Kate’s Marriage

Do you watch that show, “Jon and Kate, Plus 8“?  I have watched it off and on, never an entire episode, but my daughter, Sarah loves it.

I’ve read about Jon and Kate  Gosselin. Especially about Kate, people really love-to-hate her, which I find oddly fascinating. She’s just a mom, trying to do her best, like any other mom. potted-palm-on-tv-set-michelleI don’t get the venom, the hate, the Kate-as-the-devil-ness of it all. People go on about how she speaks to Jon, talking down to him, or whatever, but that’s behavior that I’ve seen in many relationships. It’s unfortunate, but sometimes it’s the way married people relate.

Lately, there have been headlines about Jon’s possible affair (denied) or Kate’s possible affair (denied).  I’m not there with Jon and Kate, I can’t see how they live their lives away from the camera, but I don’t think that these people have had affairs. I can’t imagine anyone with that many kids having the energy to have an affair – I know I’m exhausted daily by my four.

There’s also the issue of no privacy. I can see a flirtation that troubles a marriage springing up – these are regular people with cameras pointed at them all the time, their egos can’t help but be inflated by that attention. Marriage and raising kids – these are challenging endeavors. Even famous people are only human.

Kate has taken to PEOPLE magazine to voice her concerns.

“I don’t know that we’re in the same place anymore, that we want the same thing,” she says quietly. “I’ve been struggling with the question of ‘Who is this person?’ for a while. I remember where I was the first time I heard her name. It’s one of those things where you can try to make it go away, but there’s blaring, red flashing lights.”

The name to which Kate refers belongs to 23-year-old Deanna Hummel, whose brother later claimed she’d been having a months-long affair with Jon.

I’m no marriage counselor, but airing private maritial matters out in such a public arena, how can that help?

Reality TV appears to be hell on marriages – only the Osbourne’s marriage appears to have emerged unscathed. Okay, maybe that’s not the only one, but when I think back to the couples and families I’ve watched – families that a show focused on – they are it. And they’ve made it through addiction and cancer, so I’d say the Osbournes are a forever match. I sure hope that Jon and Kate can figure it out, because otherwise, one of them is going to go broke paying child support.

It’s called RATINGS people!!! I love Jon and Kate and all their kids, have watched the show since the beginning, and yes even repeats. These are hard working, loving each other, faith based people who would do anything for their kids, even at the risk of their own reputations. Now that they’re going into their 5th season the producers must have thought they needed something to boost their ratings, which were already at #1. I guess it has succeeded since I see the negative reports everywhere! I don’t believe a word of it, don’t buy any magazines/tabloids and don’t click on negative info. My way of supporting the real victims in this “rumor war”, the kids. So, hang in there Jon and Kate, it won’t be long before someone else is more interesting and the tabloids will forget about you both, at least for a while. Can’t wait till your new season begins, and Kate good luck with your book which I know is why you’re really doing all the TV and magazine interviews. Isn’t it too bad they choose to mention the negative rumors instead of what a great book you wrote.

That book should be called “All about Kate” featuring Jon,Cara,Mady,Alexis,Collin,Hannah,Leah,Joel, and Aaden.A more accurate title.I do think they are faith based since now their faith is the mighty dollar.

I love Jon & Kate…and their 8. I watch all of the time. Kate is like me…only way more crazy and way more bossy (didn’t think that was possible – lol) so I really enjoy watching her especially. I hope that they’re not really having serious marital issues. But seriously, we’ve all had ‘em if we’ve been married over a day and they’ve been married over 10 years. There’s bound to be bumps in the road. I would have to say though that they should be keeping that part of their lives as quiet and private as possible. It’s hard to fix stuff when everyone and their brother is watchin’. :(

I watched 2 or three shows and stopped because I couldn’t stand the way she talks to her husband and her ‘my way or the highway’ attitude. The very first show I thought that he would leave eventually. Nobody can take that much disrespect publicly. My main problem with the both of them is that nobody has a job. If it’s ok for them to make a living off their kids, why not the Octomom too?

really in all honosty i dont think what goes on between a husband and a wife anyones business but their own wether or not she did or didnt have an affair is private and they should seek help they first and for most should seek god with out god a marriage is basically a train wreck waiting to happen my husband and i have had our differences but with the churches help we are good and thats what they should do but its not upon us to pass judgement or convict them of what they do and dont do the best things for us and the paparazzi should do is stay out of it they should cut off the show and start working on things thats what i believe would be the best thing to do if they wanted to save the marriage look what happened to nick and jessica they were good until reality tv came into their lives rumors get started marriages start crumbaling next thing they know is how did we get from being a good couple to this
