Juicy Pens, Thirsty Paper

I’ve been reading about the latest SARK book, Juicy Pens, Thirsty Paper, for some time now. I read about it before it came out and now that the book is available, too. I own a couple of SARK books and know her style well. I wondered if it was really worth buying. You know the whole thing you go through with just about every book you consider buying.
I couldn’t help making excuses about whether I needed another book on creativity, etc. But, I finally decided to just go ahead and buy the book. I do deserve to treat my writer self. I earn money from this blog. Why the reluctance to spend money on myself? I don’t always understand what makes me such a measured buyer, especially when it comes to books, but it’s part of who I am. I’ll probably journal about that later.
Do you allow yourself to buy books often? How often do you buy books? In what other ways do you treat yourself? Have you read this SARK book? Let me know what you think in the comments section below.

Yes, I do buy books, although just a fraction of what I wish I could buy. I hold onto them forever. I try to clear them out periodically, but it is very difficult for me. I give myself permission to buy the books because I tell myself that reading makes me a better writer. It’s a convenient theory, but it’s also true.
I’ve never purchased a SARK book. I usually buy novels, books about massage therapy, books about writing, books about photography, cookbooks, children’s books, and sometimes books about self-help stuff or parenting.
I purchase a couple of books a month, on average.
Hi Michelle,
Thanks so much for your comment. I’m pleased to read you will buy books of such a variety. I’m with you on reading improving your writing. Maybe I need to loosen up and buy a few more books, hey? Thanks again for your response.
Ooooo Heather, I’m just like you. I have a hard time justifying such “luxuries” for myself. But now that I also blog for profit, I can consider these splurges tax deductible. Woohoo!
Hi Eileen,
Yeah, I’m glad I picked the book up, too. It’s a real joy to read. Thanks for the comment.
Books are my love, my delight, my joy. I read everything I buy and keep most of it. We recently moved across the country and I got rid of huge amounts of books just to be able to pay for the move. To comfort myself I bought. . . .books.
Hi Quinn Creative,
Yes, I do enjoy books so much, too. I am an avid library user, but end up with favourites I take out all the time. It’s a good way to know if I really want to own the book that way. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I hope you find plenty more delightful books today.
