Junk-Created Banjo

She’ll be comin’ ’round the mountain…

This weekend’s post come from the Tangier Sound blog (click or paste: http://tangiersound.wordpress.com) with their Kodak Can Banjo! post.  (Posted by Patrick Costello and the picture came from the same place).

I’ve toyed with the idea of making instruments from discarded things, but this banjo is supposed to be a very well made instrument!  Has anyone else ever heard of this sort of thing?  The closes I can think of is the steel kettle drums made from metal barrells.

Keep me posted, have a great weekend!

  1. My Grandfather used to make whistles out of tree branches, not quite as unique as the bango I admit. It worked though, the whistle was loud enough that we all new when it was time to come in for dinner.

  2. Not missing dinner sounds wonderful–I’m partial to my dinner.

I’ve always wanted to make a wooden whistle–do you have any instructions or tips for me?
