The trial of Karen McCarron, the doctor who killed her then 3-year old autistic daughter Katherine on May 13, 2006, will start on December 3. McCarron’s trial has been postponed five times. As reported in today’s Daily Herald, Judge Steve Kouri ruled that McCarron not receive a sixth trial date.
Kouri wrote in a decision that his reasons for denial were stall tactics from the defense and five postponements.
“It is apparent that the defendant’s legal team is no closer to presenting her affirmative defense of insanity than they were at the start of or any time during this case.” Kouri wrote. “It is further apparent that any deadline suggested by (McCarron’s) attorney is at best hollow, and at worst an intentional misrepresentation to the court.”
McCarron is charged with suffocating her daughter with a garbage bag. She has pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of obstructing justice and one count of concealment of a homicidal death. She is free on $1 million bond. The Peoria Journal-Star is also covering the case.

Wait… they let a murderer free on bond?!!
That’s what both sources said…….
Excuse me while I vomit! I cannot begin to say how much this bothers me. If it’s not murdering your child with a disability, it’s butchering your child to make the disability easier for you to manage.
It’s all sick! It’s wrong! I cannot say anything more without crying.
Sadder still: This case is over a year old, and I just now learn of it.
Katie, no matter what comes of this, know that there are people whose hearts and souls miss you.
