Keep Healthy Foods in the House

When dieting it’s important to keep healthy foods in the house. This is so true for me. RIght about 3pm or so I start to graze. The kids are home and hungry for a snack before dinner and so am I. I can’t put my kids on a diet, but I can stop myself from eating a cupcake or a piece of candy that is supposed to keep me going till dinner.
There are many many healthy foods like of course fruits but you can also have pretzels. You can also have those 100 calorie snacks that are in the grocery stores today but it’s important NOT to have 2 of them. The problem with those 100 calorie snacks is that it gets your taste buds going and the next thing you know, you have opened another one ‘for the kids’. Yeah, right! The portions are so small that you are almost better off not having them at all. I do take them on the go so that I don’t stop by somebody’s drive thru during the day.
There are also granola bars and things like that. I don’t happen to like them but there you go. Also you can have a bowl of cereal. I love vegetables so I will pop a steamed vegetable in the microwave. Now my kids like those too.
Keeping healthy foods in the house will keep you from making mistakes. If you have to actually go out to the grocery store to get an item, you are probably not going to want to do it. After a while you will get used to eating healthier and it won’t be a big deal. Remember it’s 21 days to change a habit.

I’ve found that what you stock your house with makes all the difference in the world, and that all comes down to what mood you are in when you go to the grocery store.
Because of that, I will not go to the store while I am hungry. When I do, I give in to all of the sugary snacks and candies I see. Not only do I spend a fortune, I load my house up with unhealthy stuff.
When i’m full, or just not hungry, I always lean closer to the healthier snacks at the store. Sometimes it still takes a bit of discipline to walk away without those nutty bars though…
