Keeping good care of your teeth is important at any stage of your life. Regular check-ups with your dentist can help prevent many problems (5 great reasons to visit your dentist regularly) but even more so when you are pregnant.
According to this article, American Dental Association Stresses Good Oral Health During Pregnancy, “Research suggests there may be an association between maternal gum disease and pre-term birth and low birth weight babies. In addition, a recent study says that pregnant women with gum disease may be more likely to develop gestational diabetes.”

Very interesting… now if they made a toothbrush that didn’t have to GO IN MY MOUTH for the first trimester because I gagged so easily… I would LOOK at the toothbrush and gag!
I agree with the gagging problem!!! It’s not fun, but I hope it gets better, and since I haven’t had much other morning sickness, I’ll take the gagging in lieu. I was actually just at the dentist this morning and got some good tips, floss twice a day, because with the hormones gum disease is more common, watch which toothpaste you use (they gave me colgate total, which we prefer anyways) and I also found out I was slightly tongue tied! Weird!
