One thing you shouldn’t forget to pack when going on any trip is your travel journal. You’ll want to make this journal something practical and enjoyable to open and record your trip. Consider the size of your journal and look for one with pockets and envelopes already inside the covers or consider adding them yourself.
Writing the Journey has some excellent tips on travel journal writing for short trips, long trips and ways to keep your travel journal fun. Check out Journey Women for more travel journal tips. Go Caribbean on the About.com has an article How to Keep a Travel Journal.
Trip Kids also has a great How to Keep a Travel Journal article with a terrific list of prompts to help you when you just don’t know what you want to write about. Worth mentioning, too, is Sarah Fisher’s Roadtrip Journal: Toolkit & 7 Tips for the Virgin Journalist at Guavamag.
If you want Photography Travel Tips don’t miss what Jay Hargett has to say about taking good photos for your travel journal. And don’t miss the excellent input in the reader’s comments at the end of the article.
The best travel journal tip I ever received was to keep a separate section in my journal for indexing each photo taken. Sometimes it’s easy to forget exactly what you took on what day. So, make sure you add the exact location of the place and any necessary description so you won’t be stumped later when you’re developing or printing your photos.
For inspiration you might also like to read the many online travel journals and blogs. Travel Blogs is just one of many similar places you can check out travel journals and blogs with photos. Please share any others you know of in the comments section below.
