I’ve always believed in a healthy breakfast, but with such a busy lifestyle, most of the time dry cereals are the staple – they’re easy to prepare. Unfortunately, not all cereals are made equal. Most of the brands I find in the grocery are just full of sugars.
I’m also of the conviction that nothing beats organic foods. Even in cereals. Eating whole grains that low in sugar are proven to lower the risk of many chronic and heart diseases. And the earlier we start our children on healthy eating, the better it will be for them down the road. Lesser toxic chemicals enter our bodies when we eat organically-grown foods. I also find that organic-product manufacturers are more health- and earth-conscious, which makes them an A+ in my books.
Nature’s Path is North America ’s number one organic cereal manufacturer known for the EnviroKids Cereals. The company has added two new organic, lower sugar, whole grain cereals to their line: Leapin’ Lemurs and Penguin Puffs.
I got to review the cereals, and you get a special treat with this give-away! Five winners will get one box each of Penguin Puffs and Leapin Lemurs.
How to join?
- Just answer this question in the comment: What did your children eat for breakfast today?
- Additional entry will be given to those who link this contest post on their site! You need to include your post URL.
- Eligibility – one entry per person per email daily (so you get more entries if you come back tomorrow, but I need different answers each time).
- It’s open to residents of the US only. If you have a blog, do post your URL as well, as I love to visit my readers’ sites and catch a conversation.
Contest ends 12:00 midnight EST on June 2, 2008 (Monday). Five winners will be randomly chosen and announced via blog and email the week after. If a winner does not reply within 3 days, he/she forfeits her winnings and an alternate winner will be chosen.
Now a little bit more about the new cereals from Nature’s Path. The EnviroKidz Leapin’ Lemurs Cereal is a gluten-free pairing of peanut butter balls and chocolate balls. If you love Reese’s, you’ll dig Leapin’ Lemurs! The EnviroKidz Penguin Puffs is a blend of kamut, quinoa and corn, so right there you have a variety of whole grains. The Puffs are crunchy without feeling like a granola, so you’re not chewing for a long time. Both cereals were also low-sugar which were just perfect for adding milk in. The only regret I have with the cereals is they’re not allergy-free. Although Penguin Puffs cereals has no dairy or peanuts, it is manufactured in a facility that has nuts.
The box where these cereals came in are also something else. Lemurs and Emperor Penguins are the topics, both of which are endangered animals, that definitely need as much attention as we can give them. It’s funny, but I enjoyed the information on the box while having breakfast, and it beats reading the newspaper anytime.
Without a doubt, Nature’s Path and the EnviroKidz line teaches kids about the environment, habitat conservation and endangered species. In fact, 1% of yearly sales are donated to organizations such as The Lemur Conservation Foundation and The Defenders of Wildlife. You can also learn more at www.NaturesPath.com.
