Kids Podcasts

Are you loving the fact that your child loves stories, but aren’t getting any work done around the house because you are ALWAYS reading books to him/her?  While I don’t suggest you stop reading to your kids, I do occassionally employ audio stories to free up my own time.  Some of my favorites are:

StoryNory Podcast
Boomerang Magazine from Audible

I actually purchased the subscription to Audible a year ago for my own business needs and ended up buying one history book for myself and 11 children’s books for my kids (and 12 months of a subscription to Boomerang).  We bought things like SuperFudge, The House at Pooh Corner, George’s Marvelous Medicine and Anne of Green Gables.  It works really well with iTunes and has its own software if you don’t like iTunes.

And then these are some I just found while searching through my favorite podcast directories:

My Baby Monsters

Kids Podcast Directory (25!)

    Robyn,

Didn’t you know that neglecting the housework is healthy? Back away from the mop, slowly.

I think reading while the dust gathers is a great way to strengthen the family’s lungs

And don’t ever use anything labeled antibacterial on your children. That’s just asking for a lifetime of inhalers.

My kids are going through a major love affair with the audio books where you actually have a book to turn the pages with. They both sit there a “read” books for minutes on end. I get yelled at by our son when I have to push him toward the dinner table and make him put the book down.

My husband took up most of the story telling duties when our kids were little. He had a great voice for it and the kids were always in stitches when he read them their favorite story… which was Mr. Noisy!

    Awe, the memories :)

Oh, I loved Mr. Noisy! And as far as cleaning goes, I guess we’re pretty healthy LOL

We use the antibacterial stuff occassionally on our hands (I buy about a bottle per year), but not to clean with. I’m kinda scared of it.

  5. MamaDuck says:

Lil’ Duck is still too young to appreciate them, but for trips and our own pleasure, we have all the ones done by Focus on the Family – the Narnia books, The Secret Garden, etc.

  6. robyn says:

We have a bunch of the FOF tapes ourselves. Narnia has got to be the best series of books ever… I began to love reading when I was introduced to them and my 8 year old loves them as well.

Of course, CS Lewis’ adult books are awesome too. Your site is gorgeous by the way.

  7. I’m glad you like our storytelling podcast, my daughter Josie and I have a great time creating it.

One of her favorite podcasts is The Sugar Monster. Each episode is short, but Josie listens to them again, and again, and again…
