KK’s Live Healthy Journal: Before and After Pictures — The “Before”

Tonight, after eating healthy all day (I swear I’ve never been hungrier in my life) and after riding my bike to my Tuesday Bible study, which is about three quarters of a mile away, I finally worked up the courage to make the decision to post my “before” pictures for this whole healthy living initiative. And I have to point out that this is a big deal for me. I don’t mind having my photo taken, but I’m not big for posting full-body shots in public places. I was too chicken to even participate in Angelique’s 24 Hours of Body Love in February.
So, here I am in all my glory:

Like I said, I do think I look normal in photos, but when I look at myself in the mirror, well, that’s another story. So these are for my benefit as much as yours, if not more. I don’t have issues with my weight so much as with my total lack of muscle tone. So my goal is to get rid of that little layer of fat that covers up my muscles while toning them and increasing my stamina.
I would love to see definition in my arms, legs, and stomach, and I’d like to strengthen my shoulders. (If you look closely at the front and back shots, you’ll see that my right shoulder is a couple of inches lower than my left, which causes a lot of discomfort and is REALLY annoying when I’m wearing a tank top that doesn’t have adjustable straps.)
Phew, that was hard. Be gentle, please.
Weight: 134.1 pounds (I forgot to weight myself this morning, so subtract a day’s worth of food from that number)
Goal Weight: 121 pounds
Workout: 1.5-mile bike ride
Meals: Special K with strawberries; salami and muenster with mustard on whole wheat; gavadiels (cavatelli pasta with sauteed broccoli and garlic and mozzarella cheese); small dish of low-fat ice cream for dessert

You look great, and good for you for working on toning your body and improving your health! Rest assured I will not be posting a full-body shot of my 8-months-pregnant figure….
I think you already look fab. And BRAVE! But, of course, the healthier you are, the better you feel, so consider yourself supported, girl. Muscle tone, here she comes!
You look great, girl! Kudos to you for being brave and sharing your photos. You can totally get defined with some workouts, in no time at all.
hey…you look great. don’t worry a thing! are those tats? i love ‘em!
@Angela – Thanks for the encouragement. I would love to see you at 8 months along in a bikini. LOL
@Liberty – Thanks, girl! I feel brave!
@Hope – I love your positive attitude. Thanks for the support.
WOW! I would LOVE to look as good as you do in a bikini!
I should do the same thing… in fact, we ALL should. It would be liberating.
(Too bad I’m a chicken…)
You rock!!! You look great and I am jealous of your brave self. I will be rootin’ for you. I have been fatblogging, as we call it on my diabetes site, but in no way have I even gotten close to placing a picture of my body let alone in a bathing suit. Seriously- props to you!!!
My god you look gorgeous! I have so much stress in my life, and I don’t work out but you … Wow! Keep going gal! You rock. Can’t remeber when I was 134lb!
@Angelique – You are one of the gutsiest women I know, so don’t sell yourself short!!!! Thanks for the comment.
@Kendra – Thanks for the encouragement. I’m starting to feel glad I did this.
@Elaine – You are so sweet. Thank you.
@Gloria – Yes, much to my chagrin, I have a tramp stamp.

You look better than normal I’d say. I mean, good gracious. We should all be so lucky to have such a lovely “before”.
You’re my hero for posting pics of yourself in a bikini. Wow. And you look great! Will you please share how you tone up? That’s my goal, too.
I would have never taken you for one to have a tattoo! I myself went for the belly, which is going to be just beautiful should I ever get pregnant, ha!
Yay for you for being so brave and determined! You look great, but I’ll support you anyway!
P.S. Love the bikini!
D*MN, girl! Go you!
