Laptop computer assists with work-life balance
So, my beloved HP Pavilion laptop died tonight.
I was all kinds of upset about it, and that bothered me a little since it is really a luxury as we have a desktop one.
Yes, I know all computers are luxuries, but for the purpose of this discussion let’s assume a household with 5 people needs a computer.
I realized that the freedom of a laptop is a big part of how I work and take care of my family. With the laptop, I can take care of my writing and some other obligations while I cook dinner, supervise homework or between laundry piles. Being able to do this work (as opposed to my day job) in most any location allows me to be near the action of the evening and get a few things done so I can spend time with my family.
Maybe a laptop computer isn’t such a luxury for me, after all.

You certainly have my sympathy. I don’t know how I’d function without mine any more. Fortunately, it’s provided m mine is provided by my employer, so if it dies, it would be replaced.
My condolances to you. I feel your pain.
A year ago my teenager, who had limited privelages with my HP Pavilion, spilled water on the keyboard. Rather than call my hubby who is a techie and works at home to see what quick solution might help, she sat and cried over the computer.
Even now I tear up over it since it was a gift from me to me when I finished my MBA. My daughter missed it too until we were able to replace it with my now favorite Toshiba.
Love your blog!
