Main event of the week: Charlie’s last day in elementary school.

And, yes, Tuesday.

In the comments, a link to a Press-Enterprise article about an 11-year-old, Nicholas Dooley, who has autism and possibly another psychiatric disorder.

  1. I just finished reading an article about a Mom trying to get help in CA. The title is:

A San Jacinto mother desperately seeks help for an autistic son spiraling out of control

Very scary to think this could happen to any of our kids and then not get help your family needs.

  2. Here’s the article. One line that stood out to me is that the child in the article, Nicholas Dooley, does better at school than at home—–suggesting that he needs more supports throughout the day, not just at school. And since he’s 11, he is approaching adolescence, and that needs to be taken into account; I don’t think it is mentioned in the article.

Very painful too—just read about an autistic boy (about 10) in Texas who was placed in a state facility and after a week or so was hospitalized with what look like some severe injuries.
