Late Night Business Hours for Working Parents

clock.gifAs I rushed from work to the dentist today to make my requested “late in the day” appointment (”Sure, we can do late. How about 2?”), I thought, “I wish there was dentist office with evening hours”.

Then I realized that even if I had a dentist with evening hours, I probably couldn’t get there because of dinner, homework, and, baths. I’d stand a better chance of getting to an appointment in the middle of the night.

I decided that there are certain businesses that would make a killing from the coffers of working parents if they were open late at night.

Heck, it doesn’t even have to be 24 hours, just being open from, say, 10pm to 2am would make me patronize those businesses in a heartbeat:

1. Dentists
2. Doctors
3. Hairdressers
4. Banks
5. Dry Cleaners
6. Target (actually, I’d settle for Target opening at 7:30 am instead of 8, so, I could go on the way to work)

Those things may already exist, but, I’ve never seen them, so, I’m going to pretend like it was all my idea.

Anyone want to meet for coffee around midnight after I get my hair done, and, my teeth cleaned?

  1. I’ve always thought an overnight auto repair shop would make a killing. You drop your car off at 6 after work and pick it up at 8 the next morning so you don’t have to find alternative way to get to work.

There’s one small flaw in your plan. The only people with the energy to stay up ’till midnight either have no job or no kids (or both).

Being a RN and working nights, I totally agree. It is depressing when you are at work in the middle of the night and can’t call anyone, make any appointments or even get a bite to eat, except at Wawa or 7-11. I think ,if I have to work at night, so should others darn it. LOL!! ;)

I think that would solve a lot of problems in life. Seriously. I think the only thing that IS open 24/7 is an occasional CVS. And they’re not good for much.

Yeah, but I don’t want a dentist drilling my teeth at midnight. What if he’s tired, or worse, hit up Happy Hour before work?

    :: shudder ::

  6. I am agree with CLG. nice comment. lol

Late Night Business Hours for Working Parents…

Wouldn’t it be nice if some businesses were open in the middle of the night?…
