Learning About The Community Furniture Project

For three years and counting, the Community Furniture Project, a charity group founded in 2004, has been reusing furniture as well as other household items. The group collects all pieces of furniture which have been donated or already discarded. They also collect other stuff like household items as well as electrical appliances.
After collecting such stuff, they sell the items at very low prices. They also do offer discounts to those people who have low incomes as well as to those who live on benefits and pensions.
Phelim O’Hagan is the manager of the group and she says, “We have been operating here since 2004, encouraging furniture and appliance reuse, minimising waste and helping people improve their quality of life. We have had tremendous support from the people of Basingstoke and the surrounding area.”
She even recounts, “Last year, we had more than 9,600 customer visits through our door, we made 1,705 collections and diverted more than 183 tonnes of material from landfill. It really shows the need for our project.”
