Less than Perfect

You’ve heard the saying “Practice makes perfect,” no doubt? While I believe the practice of journal writing makes you a better writer and good at resolving personal issues, I don’t for one moment entertain the idea that it will make you perfect or a perfect journal writer.
In fact, I believe the more time you spend writing, digging, thinking and working over various aspects of your life, you come to an understanding how less than perfect human beings really are. For me, this comes as a great reminder how much compassion and empathy are tools needed for survival. These days it can be easy to become cynical and bitter with the people around us, for many reasons.
Keep on writing in your journal. It will keep your eyes on the things that matter and in touch with the humanness of being human.

Journal writing is what got me started blogging. For me it’s been the best way to improve my skills and it has the added bonus of allowing me to review my life when I go back and read old entries.
Hi Michelle,
Yes, I think if it wasn’t for the confidence gained in being a regular journal writer I’d never have been a blogger, either. Thanks for commenting.
