Doug,

Thanks for the input. I'm glad to hear that it was more the vintage than absolute ineptitude. But I can't help but wonder, why even sell it when it's that bad? Why chance ruining your reputation?

BTW, we have a really cool German tasting set up for next week, with someone from Dee Vine Wines coming to talk to us.

after reading your post i remembered that i read something about alsatian wines somewhere kinda recently... it was in the wine spectators ultimate buying guide... they seem to have raved on and on about the 2005 vintage being exceptional with, you guessed it, zind-humbrecht as a "highlight" from that vintage, with 25 of their 31 2005's reviewed as having rated 90 points or higher.. and to show you how great your palate is, it also mentioned in there that the 2006 vintage of alsatian wine would not be so great because of bad weather and a lot of producers had to deal with a rapid spread of rot... if you are looking for some good european whites, i've had some great german and austrian ones lately, especially the '06 vintage..
