Lidocaine may help pain from interstitial cystitis

People who live with interstitial cystitis don’t have have to be told how painful it is. As with many chronic illnesses, people with IC, most often women, have tried many treatments to try to treat their symptoms. Unfortunately, IC is one of those illnesses that seems to defy treatment in many cases. (Company’s calling – living with the pain of interstitial cystitis, 104 Great Resources for CFS, Fibromyalgia & Interstitial Cystitis, and Trial for interstitial cystitis treatment found it not effective)

Recently, a study was presented at the annual meeting of the European Association of Urology where the researchers by instilling lidocaine into the bladder, the symptoms in several women were improved. You can read more about it in the Reuter’s article: Anesthetic treatment helps painful bladder.
