Life In A Mass of Shapes – Designs of Andreas Angelidakis

Andreas Angelidakis is a very unusual architect / think tank. The best thing about Angelidakis, is the use of shapes. Nothing is ever a square box with regards to his designs, well, not a boring square box anyhow. From waves, to circles, to geometric oddities, there’s a dream-like structure for just about everyone at Angelidakis’ site.

Of course, as always, I do play favorites. I like the Polygon Housing design. A little stark for my normal taste, but I love the curve upwards and if built the light would be great with windows such as these.

Also, I’m pretty much mesmerized with the Cloud House. Angelidakis’ site notes that the Cloud House shape, “Was found on the internet, in Rafael Rozendaal’s www.whywashesad.com but the idea comes from growing up in the Greek summer landscape of semi abandoned and unfinished haphazardly constructed concrete domino frames.” You have to visit that whywashesad site by the way – really odd, and strangely addicting.

You can see much more work, including more pictures of both of the above structures, at Andreas Angelidakis.  I’d check out the Forever Laser Institute if I were you – it’s so cool.
