Lipodissolve Disasters

Lipodissolve gun
Gun used for Lipodissolve.

Most of you have probably heard about the treatment Lipodissolve, a treatment that involves shots of chemicals to rupture fat cells in certain areas of the body, such as the stomach or arms. It seems like I’m constantly hearing about some celebrity or other who got Lipodissolve and got rid of her cellulite.

The November issue of Allure has a great article about some of the things that can go wrong during these treatments, which cost thousands of dollars and are not technically FDA approved:

“Several doctors and patients contacted by Allure reported complications, calls to 911, hospital admissions and surgeries as a result of Lipodissolve treatments.”

These range from feeling numbess in the chest to extreme pain, bloating and tingling in the injection site, to having to have skin grafts.

Typically, you have to go several times to see a loss of an inch or two in the area you have injected, over a period of six months or so.

Hopefully, this article will be enough to convince women (and men!) to lose fat the only healthy, proven effective way – diet and exercise.

I just started working for fig. the leader in medical body shaping and thought i’d make a comment on your post. fig. has performed more lipodissolve treatments than anyone else.

I agree with you that the healthy way to lose weight is through diet and exercise. Lipodissolve is NOT for weight loss. It is a body shaping treatment, inch loss. Most people, including myself, have pockets of fat which are resistant to diet and exercise. Despite working out and eating right, certain parts of our bodies will not go away. Love handles, inner and outer thighs and lower abs etc. Advanced lipodissolve offers an alternative to liposuction where you can eliminate those stubborn pockets of fat without surgey. Just like any surgery it has its risks, but when administered by trained professionals, lipodissolve has an excellent safety record.

If one is interested in something like this i would suggest investing in some research. Talk to a professional with experience. Look at before and after pics and ask as many questions as you have. Then make a decision based on your needs and expectations.

According to what I read, not all those who perform Lipodissolve treatments are qualified to do so. However, I have heard of the company you work for and I appreciate the information.

  3. Stephanie says:

I did do my research before choosing which company to go to, and I went to FIG. I WOULD NOT reccomend for anyone to go to FIG or to get Lipodissolve from anyone. I started going back in 2006. They said that each person would be seen by a Physcian, which did not happen. They said that you could easily do it over your lunch break and go back to work. There was no way that I was ever able to do much of anything after having the injections, and I have a high pain threshold. I gave birth to my first child without any drugs of any kind. I was sore, burised and swollen after the treatments. A couple of the days I got sick and had to go home and go to bed after treatment.

They also guaranteed results, which I got, just not the ones they had promised. The results I got were 35lbs of weight gain in 6 months which a year and a half later, I can’t get off with diet and exercise. I had horrible problems with my menstral cycle ranging from having a period every other week, to bleeding so heavy my Dr wanted to do an endometrial ablation. I had my upper and lower abs done. My stomach looks worse than when I started. I have been trying to loose the weight for a year and a half and it won’t come off. I have discoloration on my abdomen from the injections. Now, I did not expect this to be some miracle treatment that would cure all of my problems, but after 2 kids and 1 c-section, I just wanted to get rid of some of the unwanted belly. I had lost all of my weight from having my 2nd child, until I went to FIG. Of course I want to express how unhappy I am with the entire experience and get my money back since they guarantee your money back if your not satisfied, but that is hard, now that FIG has closed it’s doors and filed bankruptsy. I think that should say enough right there.

    Stephanie,
I could not have said it better. I agree with everything you stated. I have also had a weight gain and problems with my menstral cycle. Must be a side effect!! I am so upset that I was so foolish to think that this magic shot or shots could have helped. I paid for 2 sections to be done and only got to my 6 set of shots of my 1st section. I paid though Care Credit and I filed a disput with them over the Bill and now I must wait to see what they will do. So much for our money back guarentee.

The more things I read about this the more Pissed off I get!

  6. JMKC says:

I know that, among nurses, not many of us want to risk our reputations working for FIG or Lipodissolve.
However, I have heard many success stories from patients who went to the offices in Denver.
Missouri office was NOTORIOUS for scheduling much less time in between visits, unlike Denver who allowed the correct amount of time in between visits.
I know that the courts have had to wrangle Missouri office over pressing patients to purchase more treatments, even before they know how well they are going to tolerate the procedure!
It’s a great idea to get it on a credit card, because then you at least have muscle behind fighting it if anything does go wrong.

  7. Britt says:

You gained 35lbs from poor diet and exercise! It is for spot treatment only… It will not turn a cow into a supermodel!

  8. pissed off in arizona says:

What has the world come too. We post our concerns and our thoughts here on this blog about this topic and you have someone who is responding by calling others Cows. Great Job Britt!! I guess your the supermodel of the Blog:)

  9. Allison says:

Hello, i’m from France ans I have done a lipodissolve traitment (in one shot). It’s been two month already and i still have nausea. I often fell very cold and I need to eat a lot otherwise I’m so tired that i coold fall. I’m so sad I have done this. Don’t do this protect yourself from that shit!

  10. Dissapointed says:

Honestly reading these blogs I am sorry to hear your poor experiences, but I have something to say to some of you…Stephanie, you cannot complain about poor results after doing the research and knowing you risk horrible results by not having the medication administered by a trained and certified Doctor. You wouldn’t go to an oral hygenist to get a filling would you? As for the others if you expected amazing results, and were dissapointed, you should have known you have to improve your diet, and exercise routine, inorder to get results. Eating your way through the symptoms instead of getting medical attention was your own downfall. By posting one-sided stories and not stating all the facts you are making it harder for other people to get the real facts when deciding if this procedure is right for them. You are helping no one by blogging half truths. Take responsibility for your own inaction and grow up. You cannot sit on your rear eating and feeling sorry for yourself and expect science to melt away your saddlebags for you.

  11. dissapointed says:

As for Britt. I whole heartedly agree with you. 100% Its a bit less eloquent than it could have been stated but that is what it boils down to in the end. For those of you complaining about pain just imagine for me how much pain you would be in if you had had a tube moved around inside you and sucked out that fat. You wouldn’t have been able to move for days. Considering the alternatives you went through far less than what you could have. Take an asprin and note that you accepted the sideaffects when you got the shots.

  12. glory says:

Maybe this treatment using lipodisolved was not good for any of you because you are over weight and wanted to loose too much fat and maybe you wanted to see result right away.If the injection really disolve fat then you should said it work but the pain is too much or the fat I lose was not enough.

  14. Stephanie says:

First off I would like to say that I weighed 130lbs when I went for the treatment and just wanted to get rid of a little bit of belly fat. I was by no means fat or a cow as “Brit” put it. I eat healthy and exercise 7 days a week and while doing the treatments I was also on Fig’s recommended diet plan “Medi Fast”. I wanted to get off another 5 to 10 lbs but that does not make me fat or a cow. So for those of you who are quick to judge you need to take a good look in the mirror. Who do you think you are to call others fat???? The weight I gained WAS from the Lipodissolve. How else can you explain gaining 35lbs in 3 months while doing the medifast diet and exercising 7 days a week (4 days of 1 hour Cardio and 3 days toning? If Lipodissolve is so great then why did “Fig” go bankrupt and why are there no others saying just how wonderful it was. Lipodissolve was not a cure all but I was told that for the small amount of belly fat I was trying to get rid of that I was a perfect canidate. Bottom line…why has this company been run out of town if they aren’t shady? Clinics don’t get closed down for doing things right. Sorry if you are a nurse working for this company. I am in healthcare and see firsthand, on a daily basis care given by qualified, compassionate nurses. You can’t be that sharp of a nurse, if you have to work for a shady, craphole like this place. Bottom of your class huh?

  15. Toni in IL says:

I received Lipodissolve a few years ago and decided because of the pain that I would not have more than 1 session. I had 133 injections. About a year and a half later, I spoke with someone who had it done at a different clinic and she said she had great results. So, I thought I would give it another try. Even though I only had 50 shots, the 2nd session at the new clinic was even more painful than before. I gained 5 lbs as a result and I still have what appears like bruise marks at the injection site that have not gone away after 2 years. I will NEVER try lipodissolve again. It was a huge mistake. I don’t know if there is any way to get rid of these ‘bruise’ marks under my skin, which are very embarrassing. It’s not worth it.

  16. Lisa says:

I’ve had 3 treatments of Lipodissolve and, while extremely painful, I have seen results. They do say there’s no downtime, which is a total lie. I couldn’t do much of anything for two days after and I think only Superman could go back to work after that. There is also much swelling, looked pregnant, and it takes about 4 weeks for the swelling go away so that you can actually see if you have results. I was small to begin with, 5″4′, 115 lbs, just a small amount of belly fat in my lower abs from 3 kids. I won’t have another treatment because I’m happy with the results now and tired of the 4 week waiting period for the swelling to go away. It does work, but maybe not for everyone, and it takes much patience. It’s a risk you know you’re taking when you sign up, though.

  17. Tiffany says:

Hello. For everyone who has had discoloration and swelling with lipodissolve, can you tell me if it is because they injected you with pc/dc instead of guna? I just came back from my consultation with Nu-U medspa here in Paradise Valley and they told me that people who complain about swelling and discoloration had it happen because pc/dc and they use Guna which supposedly has no contraindications. I want to know if they are lying so please help? Thank you

    • Lipodissolve happy says:

      Hi Tiffany,
I had 2 lipodissolve treatments so far on love handles and lower abs. My results are great. It takes approx. 4-6 weeks to start seeing results. I had mine done by a doctor who is very qualified. He said the exact same thing you mentioned. The only reasons people are getting side effects, discoloration, etc. is because other chemicals are mixed with the basic pc/dc compound. He only used pc/dc in my injections. I had normal side effects swelling, alittle tingling but it was no unbearable and it went away in 2 days. I’m happy and ready for summer lol!

  18. Jean Sanders says:

I received lipodissolve injections here in Fort Myers, Florida and had terrible results. My once smoothe skin became a lumpy and pot holes emerged disfiguering me. I then had a tummy tuck to try to mitigate the damage and the pot holes are worse and now i have a 13 inch scar taboot.
I have hired an attorney and am looking for others to join a class action law suit.

  19. Jean Sanders says:

I had the most horrible results with lipodissolve right here in Fort Myers,Florida. My skin was smoothe and I only had about 8 or 9 pounds to lose. I will NEVER be able to wear a 2 piece again. I have horrible pot holes that will never go away. DO NOT do lipodissolve. To find out the truth about this product and see PHOTOS go to http://www.lipodissolvedisasters.com. Jean

  20. Lisa (subscribed) says:

I was very nervous ordering this product off of a website. However, I have been hugely impressed with the results after 3 treatments. I have been telling people about it and the buzz is growing strong. This is something that should be available in every area that has a plastic surgeon. As an alternative to having invassive surgery with virtually no downtime it is an amazing product. I had a baby two years ago and had started to make my peace with the residual baby fat I could not get off through diet and exercise. That is no longer the case. I am going to recapture my healthy body look. I will be ordering more soon! Try Lipogun new brand.
