Listening to Music while Walking

I had another wonderful walk this morning. It was slightly foggy outside, but cool and a gentle breeze to tickle my skin every now and then. Perfect conditions for walking!

I love bringing along my little Sony MP3 player. Before I headed out this morning I loaded it up with more fun, upbeat music to listen to while I walked.

I find that by listening to a variety of music with different tempos, I can vary my walking rate (because I tend to walk either really fast, or to the beat of a song).

One thing I am trying right now is this: 10-minute warm-up, followed by a 10-minute fast-walk, then finish with a 10-minute cool-down. I choose 2-3 songs for all three sessions. During the warm-up and cool-down, I listen to slower songs. Then I sandwich in a song or two with a faster beat to help me pick up the pace and really feel the burn and sweat.

Do you listen to music while you exercise?

  1. No. I use my exercise to let my drift over nothing in particular. I find it very relaxing.
