Here at b5media’s Science & Health Channel, contests are running wild! Can you think of one good reason why my Mental Health Notes readers should be left out? Neither can I, which is why for the entire Valentine’s Day week (Sunday, February 10 until Saturday, February 16), you all have a chance to enter MHN’s Love: It’s All In My Head Valentine’s Day Contest!
The rules/terms/conditions/all that jazz are super simple:
- Valentine’s Day is all about showing your love and appreciation for the special people in your life. This Valentine’s Day, how about showing some love and appreciation for yourself? Think of ONE way (yep, just one, I told you it was simple) you can give yourself some TLC. It can be related to your brain, your body, your spirit – anything, as long as it’s all about YOU.
- Between today (February 10) and midnight next Saturday (February 16), submit your entry in the comments of this post. You can only submit one entry.
- After midnight next Saturday (you know, once it officially becomes Sunday, February 17), I’ll print out all entries, put them in a bowl, give ‘em a good shake, and blindly choose one as the winner. I may even offer picture documentation to show you I’m not cheating
- Once a winner is selected, I’ll make an announcement here at Mental Health Notes.
- If you’re the winner, contact me via email with your mailing/shipment information.
And, if you win?
You get your very own, brand new copy of Rainy Day Reflections by Benny Weinbeck. This seven-track audio CD is part of the Moods of Nature series and includes over 40 minutes of tranquil tunes perfect for yoga, meditation, easing into sleep, or just relaxing.
Melodian flute, guitar, strings, and windchimes combine with distant rolling thunder and the steady patter of raindrops. All the worries of the day melt away to be replaced with a relaxing sense of restful calm.
Remember, this contest is open to everyone. I can’t wait to read your entries, and good luck!
EDIT: The contest is now closed. Good luck to the participants, and stay tuned to Mental Health Notes for the announcement of the winner!

Wow, I’m first. My favorite way to get my own TLC is for hubby to leave–go to the movies, etc,–so I can get a good hour or more reading. I love to read and rarely have time to do so.
Oh this is tough… I do not give myself TLC very often at all, but when I do I buy a People magazine and fill the tub and my hubby takes the kids far away so I can read my ‘news’ and soak! Sad huh, but it is the truth,
!!!
One thing I can do to show myself I love me? Hmmm … taking myself to a movie all alone! Most people think this is weird, but you don’t go to the movies to talk to people, so going alone is just fantastic in my mind. I would also buy a huge diet soda and a huge fattening popcorn and be a glutton while I watch!
tough indeed. when you have a five year old, pampering yourself is a rarity. but i’d go for anything even as simple as a food spa and a pedicure. if i can squeeze that in while my son is in school, that would be heaven!
does that count for some TLC?
i mean foot spa!
If I could take time for myself, I would get rid of EVERYONE! Make my boyfriend take the baby, his daughter and my brother, and go do something “productive” while I sit at home, alone. I would soak, listen to music and veg out! I would shave my legs for the first time in MONTHS, and give myself some rejuvenation.
These are all great ideas! Hmm…wouldn’t it be great if we could fit them all into one day?
Thanks Alicia. I am definately going to engage in some personal TLC. I always get a little bummed out during the Valentine holiday, not this year..its all about me!
OK I do way more than one thing to show TLC to myself.
Lets see just one…hmmm well. This year I started buying myself bunches of pink and white tulips and filling vases for every room of my apartment.
It does more good than you can possibly know.
