Everybody loves children, whether they’re our own or others. So being Valentine’s Day and all, I thought we should celebrate the cutest, most lovable beings on planet earth – our CHILDREN…
and, to show my lovin’ to you, you get a chance to win a $30 Amazon gift card!
SO – What precious moments do you have with your child?
Share a funny moment, something done for you unexpectedly, an accomplishment your child worked hard for… anything that made you say “I JUST LOVE YOU SO!” Now if you don’t have kids, then the special children in your life are also worth celebrating about – your niece/nephew/grandkids, your friend’s, a neighbor…
To start, here’s mine. Since my daughter has multiple allergies, she can’t eat just any cake. I’m no expert baker, but I try because I have to. One day, I was baking a cake for a special occasion, and left it on the dining table to cool before spreading icing on it. A few hours later, here is what greeted me –
(images of daughter eating cake removed) How can I NOT love her for loving my baking?
I can’t wait to hear your loving moments with your child!
SIMPLE CONTEST RULES: I will randomly draw the $30 Amazon gift card winner from comments of this post. Which means, the more comments you put, the better your chances of winning. Contest ends February 28, 2008. I will announce the winning entry by March 1, 2008 and will notify by email also.

She is just too gorgeous! I think YOU should win!
I will do one for each of my three… My eldest…
Over the weekend we had her swim championship, she is in first grade. After each race they get out and go with the coaches back to the gym area to get ready for the next race, which can be hours away! My daughter immediately gets out and starts looking for us every time and gives her daddy a big ol’ smile. When we catch up with her after making our way to the gym she jumps in our arms and gives us big hugs and kisses, she isn’t embarrassed at all (which is a small miracle). Anyway, after getting home from the meet we were laying in her bed and she said “I love you guys sooo much for always taking us everywhere and watching me swim! You are the best mommy and daddy ever.” I had to fight back tears, I love that kid sooo much!!!!
My middle daughter is in kindergarten and she is the toughest one but also the sweetest…
She wraps her arms around me every night before bed when I am tucking her in and gives me the biggest hug on earth. She kisses my cheeks and hold on tight while telling me she loves me, over and over again! Of course I tell her back but it is just so darn cool to know that she feels like that about her mommy ’cause we all know that us mommies feel like that about them! I hope she always wants to hug her mommy!
Ok, my youngest, my ‘baby’. She may be 3 but I still call her that, I know pitiful,
Oh boy do I love that kid! My baby girl will just come over and grab my cheeks and hold my face so it is 2 inches from her and looking directly at her eyes and say, “mommy- you so pretty, you look like me. you are my biggest lovey”. Seriously, it is the cutest thing ever and she says it with such emotion. I border on laughing and crying when I look at her eyes while she is saying her sweet words!
It’s always nice to be affirmed by someone close to you. What really surprised me, though, one day was my daughter’s most unforgettable remark during breakfast time. She just said to me out of the blue while enjoying a bite of her pancakes, “Mommy, when I grow up, I want to be beautiful like you.”
Yes, it came from the mouth of a little child who does not lie. But I must admit I had to probe by asking Phoebe what she really meant by ‘beautiful.’ Not that I couldn’t receive her affirmation. I was just curious about my daughter’s concept of beauty. Is it nothing but skin deep or something as profound as inner beauty, which is rather soul deep?
Well, it turned out the latter was true to her. When I asked, “Why do you think I’m beautiful?” she replied, “Because you’re good, and all good people are beautiful.”
there was this time when my husband had to stay long at work, long past bedtime. my son came to my room and asked if perhaps he should maybe sleep with me. when i asked why, he said something like “well, i’m the man of the house now, and i have to make sure you and the baby are ok.” that, from a five year old!
Ruth – OK, go back a little bit… what “baby”?!! you’re having another one? yey!
aw, Kendra – your girls are adorable! we should really meet one day around here. My baby will love to hang with your girls, for sure.
Nymfa, how old is Phoebe again? She takes after you so much, doesn’t she! I bet that confidence and artsiness comes from you as well.
yup, due end of april!
Ruth, my congratulations and a big {{{HUG}}} to you! Hope you’re doing well with the pregnancy.
I have three kiddos so I’ll do three…
With my 5 year old son- He made me a special Christmas present at kindergarten (a picture frame with his picture in it) and with it a card handwritten by him saying “I love you mom”… so precious!
With my 4 year old son- he recently put his sweet hand on my cheek and said “I wuv you mommy… you are my most favouritest mommy eveer” and my heart absolutely melted.
With my 1 year old daughter- when she nurses she sometimes tries to reach up and touch my face and then she giggles… adorable.
I love my kids!

Some of my favorite times are when my niece (3) is drifting off to sleep and you think she is asleep but she whispers quietly “I love you”. It’s the best
oh, I guess I should introduce myself. Hi, I’m lace. I have just discovered your blog today and it is great! Thanks for all the great info.
I have one more for my youngest niece (16 months). I love when she comes up to you and crouches down really low and then attempts a jump up while saying “up”. She loves to be held.
My daughter surprised me one morning by washing the dishes. I, of course, had to wash them again, but it was sweet of her to try.
My almost three year old just asked me to rock in his rocking chair when I checked in on him in bed. He climbed up on my lap and asked me to sing “the moon song”. I used to sing it to him every night, until he got “too big” for rocking and singing… He sang along with me, and my heart melted. I guess he still needs me sometimes!
The best moment was when my little angel uttered her first word. I almost cried!
Oh, there are so many moments like that! And I just have to say that those pictures are adorable! Hmmm…our latest “I just love you so” moment was when there was a little girl who was being mean to him and pushing him, etc….and he just shared with her and wanted to hug her anyways, etc. He’s just such a gentle soul…and it makes me love him more every time I see him acting so nice with other kids!!
hey everyone! thanks for sharing these precious memories! Being a parent is just the BEST thing in the world, isn’t it? We don’t really expect anything much from our kids – except maybe to brush their teeth and eat their greens… We will love them to our dying days no matter what, and we will sacrifice ourselves for their sake. So when they tell us “i love you” or give us hugs and wet kisses, and just totally be themselves, our hearts do melt!
And mine did with all your comments! Keep adding more memories to share here – it gets your chances of winning up – and more so, it’s just so nice to talk about our children!
oh, and lest you think this is just about parents – yeah if you have other kids in your life – like Lace’s sweet niece – then share their love for all the world to see!
My most loving moments are spending with my grandchildren.
my daughter is 1 1/2 she helps me do the laundry, putting the clothes from the washer to the dryer
my daughter can say her abcs and count to 15. i’m so proud she is only 20 months
both of my girls help me take care of my infant son. change diapers , feed him, get him dressed
when my neighbor was sick my two year old. drew a picture. of squggly lines of course. then asked if she could give it to him, so he’ll feel better.
it makes me smile whenever my two monthold son laughs. he’s so cute
Lauren now 5 1/2 yrs is so precious and cunning. I let her eat one cookie out of a 2-pack. She finishes it and then I notice she’s digging in the pouch again. I reminded her only 1 cookie. She replies, “I know mom. I’m still eating the crumbs from the 1st cookie.” Sheesh
my grandson told his pre-school teacher that I was the bestest cookie maker in the world. Naturally I couldn’t refuse when she recruited me to bake cookies for the Mother’s Day luncheon
I want this
I have a 6 month old and he has learned how to give a hug and a kiss. It is the first thing he really does by himself and it just melts your heart when he puts those little chubby arms around your neck and gives you a wet chew then pulls himself back to look at you with a great big smile. It makes everything you go through with a baby worthwhile.
Brandy, that is so sweet of him! How did your neighbor react?
Robin, it’s pure joy isn’t it when our kids do that. Your son must see you doing that a lot to him and he just gives back the love.
(mommy’s heart getting bigger with love!)
that’s just hilarious, Jany!
there you go. Gloria! a grandma’s love is the best.
I was feeling rather frazzled one day and had been living in my pj’s, hair a mess and my son (3)for no particular reason came to me and said “Mommy, you’re soooo pretty”. You always think your own kids are the cutest, it turns out they feel the same way about us. In his eyes I’m always pretty, pj’s messy hair and all.
The kids are great to have around when I’m feeling blue. They like to comb my hair and “style” it, and put on my makeup for me. How wonderful I look once they’re finished!
I visited my son’s daycare today to make blueberry muffins with his preschool class. They had just come in from their outside time and my son had just finished washing his hands. He turned around, saw me walking in, and RAN toward me with a huge grin on his face. I’m sure I don’t even need to say that my heart just melted.
i have 4 children…so ill do them all…
my oldest is 6 and we dont usually have good days with her medical problems so every minute is precious with her but we love her good days…

my 2 year old daughter is my stubborn daughter…
she loves to help me fold my already folded laundry…hehehe she says good girl with every item in the basket
my youngest is on;y 6 months or will be feb 27th…he refuses tolet his daddy put him down…he’ll cry and cry until I get him ay back in the recliner and cuddle him to me and rub his head n kiss hin telling him i love you doodle over & over til hes out like a light
my 3 year old daughter is pottytraining herself since i had been trying and got bad sick…this last bad on the couch sickness…well she will poop but not pee in there…she told me she did it so her poor ole sick momma could rest … she also tried to chane her sister & brother lol
The other night my 11 week old woke up crying at around 2 in the morning and I went in to check on him. He looked up at me and when he recognized my face he stopped crying and started to smile. It just about melted my heart!
When I get home from work and my son sees me come in he runs over to the baby gate and pretty much runs up and grabs my legs. He gets almost as excited as the dog. It is nice to know I’m missed while at work.
I forgot to add that he is just 1 year old. We got back from leaving him with the in-laws for a “date” today and he just wanted me to hold him, which was unusual since usually he wants his mom more.
A recent one of many loving moments was listening to my 5 year old, try to teach my almost 2 year old how to count by 100’s. Before long, my little daugther was saying, 100, 200, 300, 400 and that was about as far as she could get, but it was neat listening to him teaching her.
Shes so cute.
Kristie, count to a hundred! that’s something, you may just have gifted child.
My 3 yr old daughter loves her daddy like crazy. the other day she asked him will you be my marriage?
that was so sweet.
When my husband was working on the kitchen drain, he turned off the water under the sink. Well my 3 year old pushed over a chair and tried to turn on the faucet. No water came out of the tap and my son said: “Daddy drank all the water!”
My son with a group of kids and saw a new girl who had a strawberry shortcake shirt on. He asked her if it was a scratch and sniff shirt.
