Luciano Pavarotti – the Italian tenor known the world over – is now dead.
I am not sure though if he had been here in the Philippines for a concert, but he is certainly popular here. The sad news was even in our local news earlier.
From the Washington Post:
Television station E’ TV Antenna-1 in Modena reported that the 71-year-old tenor, who has pancreatic cancer, had lost consciousness and was suffering from kidney problems at the Modena home where he has been recovering following a hospital stay.
The ANSA news agency, citing medical sources, said Pavarotti was believed to have lost consciousness for brief moments in recent days.
Over a year ago, he was diagnosed and had surgery of pancreatic cancer.
Apparently he didn’t survive it. His vibrant voice will surely be missed.
