Mauna Loa Dry Roasted Macadamia Nuts, Salted, 4.5-Ounce Can (Pack of 6)Nuts, such as walnuts and pistachios, are good for your heart. Macadamias, too! According to researchers, combined with a heart-healthy diet, a handful of macadamia nuts reduced total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and triglyceride levels compared with the standard American diet.

This study was supported by The Hershey Co. with partial support from NIH. Hm, are we going to see health claims on the labels of Hershey’s Chocolate Covered Macadamias soon?

This sounds like good news, especially for macadamia nut lovers!

When it comes to food research though, I’d guess there must be research out there to prove that just about every type of food (including trans-fats or whatever) is actually good for you. If there is any competition in the area, then sure enough, there will be research to prove that this very same food is bad for you. Remember the margarine vs. butter debate?

    Supported by Hershey’s, eh?

    Interesting, but I remain unconvinced.

Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate your article, but I share the scepticism you seem to include at the end there.

I want to see more studies, and I want to know who’s funding them!
