Magazines Travel Too

You can sometimes find great travel stories in magazines that have nothing to do with travel. For instance, Popular Mechanics ran a story on The World’s 5 Fastest Trains You Can Ride Right Now. They give you the specs, the tech and nice photos.
Mental Floss ran a wonderful story on Weird Hotels ’round the World. One of them is even an oil rig escape pod!
On the more normal side, Bon Appetit delivered an informative list of 2009’s Top Ten Best New Restaurants in America. Some of the restaurants also have great atmosphere, like The Greenhouse Tavern, made with reclaimed barn wood and featuring light fixtures created from old bike rims.
USA Weekend shares 5 surefire ways to get the most value from your travel from Travel Channel’s Samantha Brown.
Finally, we get to Travel & Leisure. Yes, that one’s a travel magazine, where you’d obviously expect to find travel tips. However, I think the article on America’s Coolest College Towns is especially timely during this back-to-school season.
Do you subscribe to travel magazines?
