Make a Green Resolution: Recycle Your Water Filters

I’ve used Brita water filters for years, but I didn’t have an option to recycle them. That’s all changing starting January 2009. It’s part of the Filter For Good effort.
Whole Foods Markets and Preserve by Recycline are stepping up to help with the effort to recycle Brita water filters.
Starting in January, you can take your used Brita water filters to participating Whole Foods Markets or mail them to Preserve. If mailing, just package the filter in a small, used box and send it via ground shipping to:
Preserve Gimme 5
823 NYS Rte 13
Cortland NY 13045
Please don’t mail them until January.
Preserve will use the collected filters in their chill line of beautiful and handy recycled household goods, like cutting boards and colanders. Can you tell I’m a fan? I’m in love with their soft toothbrush with its sexy handle.
Still using bottled water?
Consider that it would take 300 normal-sized 16.9-ounce bottles of water to replace just one Brita pitcher filter. Plus, carrying around packs of bottled water is heavy!
No, I don’t have stock in Brita. : ) Even if you choose another water filter instead of bottled water, you’re still helping to prevent needless waste from bottled water.
