So, your child wants a puppy or kitten for Christmas and you’re thinking about making his or her dreams come true. Christmas pets are a wonderful idea, right? Actually, Christmas is one of the worst times to get a real, live puppy. There are visitors, events to attend, toys to play with…And if you’re living in a climate with four seasons, there’s the special joy of doing walkies at 4 am in a foot of snow!

If you really want to get your child a live pet and are ready to take on most of its care if your child can’t handle the responsibility after all, please consider waiting to choose the real puppy until the holidays are over. Instead, why not give your child a virtual or robotic pet for Christmas, along with a coupon redeemable for the real pet in a few months?
A few great Christmas pets to consider are:
- Fur Real Friends – These little critters really look life like.
- Furbies – If you want to see if your child is ready for the responsibility of a pet, try having him or her raise and train one of these retro favorites.
- Webkinz – They can hug the stuffed version while caring for the virtual version of their pets online.
Do you have a favorite virtual or robotic pet?
