Making a collage with monoprint papers: The Prodigal

The Prodigal

Once I’ve got a great big stack of background papers to work with (like the monoprint background papers we made recently), I like to take a few days or weeks (however long they last!) and do some collage projects with them.  Before cutting the papers up, I usually scan them so that later on they’ll be available for mixed media digital collages too.

Prodigal is a piece that came to me all in one flash.  It’s not very complicated, but the concept of the prodigal had been rolling around in my mind for a few weeks, and all at once I knew how I wanted to visualize it.

The instruction segment was great thanks Cyndi. I love the colurs of the monoprint background papers. I see the prodigal….
My son got paid and received a certificate for the work (purchased by the Education Dept) that was inspired by your tutorials on background pieces and surface design. Definitely a high for him to look back on. Thanks.

Oh, I’m *so* glad to hear that he’s still on a high over his experience, Shirley!

Hi Cyndi, this is a question about Layers Upon Layers. Where is it and where are all the techniques etc. that I thought would be there always?

They’re still here, Carolyn. LUL has gotten folded into Blisstree, a new portal. You can search on my name if you’d like, and it will cut through a bit. Unfortunately, all the old indexing is gone :-(
