Wow, you have built an amazing support system. You should be very proud. It is inspiring for me to read about it. Something I need to be developing more of here.

@Mayfly, here's a Language Master---how it gets used in Charlie's classroom is a topic for a (future) post. We have one at home; briefly, we record phrases on the cards and he runs them through the machine, and is prompted to speak (but without us giving him a verbal prompt). Over time, he has started to say a number of phrases on his own after using the technology.

Every year I interview students from medical schools who, in addition to having excellent grades and test scores, done such things as been Olympic class athletes, climbed Mt. Everest, written chapters in textbooks, set up and run clinics for underserved populations, participated in multiple oversees missions, performed as a musician in major venues, etc.

I always try to find some "atypical" individuals to advocate for, who had to face adversity and succeed in different ways, such as raising a younger sibling while putting themselves thru college and medical school after their parents died.

This reminds me of all the wonderful people in J's life and the great work they do with him and the love they have for him too. I feel blessed to have these people in our lives and J always looks forward to seeing them.

It's the student loans that are the killer. My daughter took a year off to go to Mozambique with a non profit on a minimum wage, but not everyone is so privileged.

The balance and juggling to keep everything else sequenced takes a dedicated team.
Cheers

Kristina, I followed the links, but I still have no idea what a Language Master is.

We are always looking for ways for our daughter to improve her communication.
